Rosie's Thorns
The famous “Rosie the Riveter” poster was created in 1943, yet we find ourselves fighting for many of the same causes that we were when it was first created. When I came across a copy of the poster, I decided to add my own twists, incorporating the “We Can Do It” message to our current time. Rosie’s Thorns speaks to the past and present unified together by art. Each issue represented is a “thorn” in the Rosie of the past. Black Lives Matter, Women’s Rights, Trans Rights are Human Rights, Disability Inclusion, Mental Health Awareness, Protesting, Palestine, Ukraine, STOP ICE, Medical Cuts, Immigration, LGBTQ+ Representation, Breaking chains, and several other topics are depicted in this piece. It is time for the American People to WAKE UP! STAND UP; FIGHT BACK!!!
